Rihanna Shows Off New Ink Honoring Her Grandmother

Rihanna has given her late grandmother the ultimate honor: She has memorialized her with a large tattoo of the goddess Isis across her chest, just below her breasts.
The “What’s My Name” singer posted the picture of her new inkings on Instagram, using her hands to cover her breasts—showing a rare bit of Rihanna modesty. The wings of the Egyptian goddess can be seen spreading across Rihanna’s rib cage.
Alongside the picture, Rihanna wrote: “Goddess Isis – Complete Woman – Model for future generations – #GRANGRANDOLLY – always in and on my heart #1love”
The Isis tat is believed to be Rihanna’s 18th tattoo, joining a flying Egyptian falcon in the shape of a handgun above her right ankle, a pistol on her thigh, cross on her collarbone, music note on her ankle, Pisces sign behind her right ear and the word “love” on her left middle finger.
She also has a trail of stars emblazoned on the back of her neck, alongside the French saying “Rebelle Fleur,” which means rebellious flower.
I guess it's safe to say she's addicted to ink!!

For someone to have never gone to college, let alone never completed high-school. To have a college course solely focusing on you as an entertainer is MAJOR!!! Noted educator and author, Michael Eric Dyson, is now teaching a class at the prominent Georgetown University, based solely on Jay Z. The course, “Sociology of Hip-Hop: Jay-Z” is a 3 credit course offered this semester. The course covers Jay-Z’s book “Decoded,” Adam Bradley’s “Book of Rhymes,” Zack O'Malley Greenburg’s “Empire State of Mind,” as well as other articles and films about hip-hop in general. Regarding the course Dyson states “We look at his incredible body of work, we look at his own understanding of his work, we look at others who reflect upon him, and then we ask the students to engage in critical analysis of Jay-Z himself,” I know that closed quickly. To be able to discuss your favorite rapper for 3 hours and receive college credit is dope! Peep the video above as Dyson speaks on it briefly. more

[MAGAZINE MADNESS] Jay-Z’s ‘The Blueprint’ Covers The Source October Issue

09/12/2011  |  No Comments

09/12/2011 On September 20th, 2011 Barnes and Noble and I will have a date. Everyone knows that Jay-Z is my Elvis so the purchase of this issue of The Source is a no brainer. The Source celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Jay-Z’s classic album “The Blueprint’ with a tribute issue. The issue dedicated to the classic album which was released on 9/11, includes a “Blueprint Feature Package” written by Elliott Wilson of Rap Radar. “After his classic 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, ignited the streets, dazzled the critics, but didn’t move enough units, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter scrapped his bad marketing plan for a one-album discography and decided to drop new masterful work each and every year. He emerged center stage with a fervent desire to be #1 in the post “Pac-Biggie” era. No MC ever wanted the throne as much as Hov. If consistency kills, he was the Son of Sam, and by the time he got to his sixth album, his frustrated competitors were firing shots back.”-Elliott Wilson. Be sure to get your copy! Via more
