Jay-Z's whirlwind through Brooklyn continues. In the same week that the Barclays Center opens to the public, Hov unlocked the doors to his brand new 40/40 Club for the first time on Thursday night.

The new 40/40, located in the sprawling confines of the Barclays is a unique twist on the Manhattan flagship location. The ambiance is the same, but the new digs are tailor-made for the arena with the Brooklyn Nets hardwood in full view for club patrons.

"I walked around here earlier and I just seen everybody busy and at work trying to finish up and it was a great feeling," Jay-Z told gathering press as he entered the 40/40 for its grand opening. "A guy stopped me in the hallway and said, 'Man this is a great thing for New York City." And that's what the whole thing was about."

Rihanna, Angie Martinez, QuestLove and Hov's close friends and family all attended the first party at the eye-popping club. The opening comes just a night before Jigga will christen the Barclays with an inaugural performance on Friday. The multiplatinum rap star will follow with seven more shows.

The Barclays features 101 luxury suites, four bars and lounge destinations, three clubs and of course Jay-Z's 40/40 Club and Restaurant. There will be eight retail shops as well. In the coming months, the multi-billion dollar complex will not only house the Nets, but also open its doors to an array of artists like Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Green Day and Barbra Streisand. College basketball and boxing events will also bring fans through the door. Not since Ebbets Field, the Major League park which the Dodgers called home until they moved to Los Angeles in the late 1950's, has Brooklyn had an entertainment complex of this magnitude.

The NBA 2K13 launch party took place last night in NYC. The star studded event was held at Jay-z’s 40/40 club, which makes perfect sense, being that Jay is the executive producer of the popular video game franchise. Celebs like Nas, Tyson Beckford, Talib Kweli, Bow Wow and more attended the event. The guest list also included NBA’s notable ballers, like Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Tyreke Evens, and the Brooklyn Nets’ Kris Humphries and Brooke Lopez. Rapper Meek Mill hit the stage and performed cuts off of his Dreamchasers mixtape series and MMG’S Self Made compilation album. Ladies please make note; NBA 2K13 arrives in stores Oct 2nd!! Presidential Love: The Carters Raise 4 Million For Obama Campaign

Hip-Hop power couple Beyonce’ and Jay-z helped raise $4 million for POTUS’ Presidential campaign at the $40,000/ticket fundraising dinner The dinner took place at Jay-z’s NYC 40/40 Club on Tuesday. The $40,000 per-ticket event brought in 100 wealthy donors, as well as a Pennsylvania couple who won the campaign’s “NYC With Barack, Jay-Z and Beyonce” fundraising contest.

In a form-fitting red cocktail dress, Beyonce kept her comments brief as she introduced the President.
“I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama,” she said. “We believe in his vision.”

“To Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship,” expressed Obama.

He noted Beyonce as a role model for his daughters and gushed about her class, poise and talent. The POTUS also recognized the similarities between him and the Brooklyn-bred rapper.

“We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there,” Obama joked. “It’s hard but it’s okay.”

Proceeds from Tuesday’s fundraiser, which raised $4 million, will reportedly go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

Jay-Z joined Coldplay at Sunday night's Paralympics Closing Ceremony in London and performed and added a new verse to the band's hit, "Paradise.'" The rapper, who one song earlier performed "Run This Town" with Coldplay and Rihanna, references several Olympians in his new verse.

He took to his website, Life + Times, to "decode" the verse.

"The thought behind the verse is, anyone with a disability, just wants a sense of normality that's why they're competing in these games," he said. "That was the idea to make the verse as inclusive for as many people, and to make it as normal as possible. It's influenced by so many different things. There are parts that are influenced by Gabby Douglas, there are parts that are influenced by Ryan Lochte, and by Serena Williams."

After supporting hubby at the Made In America Festival, Beyonce celebrated her 31st birthday by cruising the Mediterranean high seas with Jay-Z and their daughter, Blue Ivy.

Beyonce' spent her 31st birthday aboard a private yacht cruising through the Mediterranean Sea in the South of France.
