Heavy D’s Cause Of Death Revealed
12/27/2011 • According to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office, Heavy D died from a pulmonary embolism caused by deep leg vein thrombosis. A pulmonary embolism is a blockage of one or more arteries in the lungs, most often caused by blood clots which travel in from other parts of he body. Unfortunately Heavy’s clot was formed in his legs. It’s likely that the MC developed deep vein thrombosis during the long transcontinental flight he took the day before he died, as he had just returned home to Los Angeles after a trip to London. As the coroner notes, he also suffered from cardiovascular disease, which also contributed to his passing. The MC's death has been classified as "natural". more
R.I.P: Hip-Hop Legend ‘Heavy D’ Dies at 44

Heavy D, the former leader of the hip-hop group Heavy D and the Boyz, has died at the age of 44. The rapper was rushed to a hospital in Los Angeles earlier this afternoon and was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. PT. Police are investigating his death but there are no signs of foul play. That's crazy because he was just performing like the old heavy on BET's Hip-Hop Awards last month. Rest In Peace Heavy.
