02/14/2012 Jazmine Sullivan said she was done with music last year and many of us were hurt. We don't have too many beautiful voices in the R&B game, so when she decided to pull a Lauryn Hill we were like NOOOOOOO!! But I am glad to share that Jazmine Sullivan is coming back to music. I mean when allllll you really know how to do is sing, no real work skills etc, you better hit that studio and work girl! Jazmine Sullivan revealed via Twitter that she’s working on her third album. Hopefully she's back to stay. If not just leave, no announcement needed. more

 Jay-Z Shines At Carnegie Hall

Jay-Z Shines At Carnegie Hall

02/07/2012  |  No Comments

02/07/2012 Jay-Z continues to make monumental moves as he made history in New York City last night, performing the first of two sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall. I was on twitter losing it as I read the tweets of those who were in attendance. From what I read and the twitpics I saw the show was AMAZING. Stylist June Ambrose had my guy looking SUPER GQ as he sported a white tux for his opening act. With a live orchestra and special guest appearances by Nas and Alicia Keys it’s safe to save Hov rocked Carnegie Hall. Throughout the evening tribute segments to Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Gil-Scott Heron, and the NY Giants were played and displayed on the main stage’s backdrop. The night was also a first as Jay-Z performed his first-born dedication, “Glory” was done live. Ticket sales from the Carnegie Hall shows will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way of New York. Head inside to see a few pics and a little footage from the show. more

02/01/2012 Former Murder Inc princess Ashanti sits down with Access Hollywood live to talk about her new music, record label and career. Ashanti always looks polished and stylish. I'm diggin the icey accessories she is wearing. The 31 year-old is all about business. The singer states;

    “Being with the major [label] taught me that I need a way bigger percentage than what they were giving me,” joked Ashanti. “It’s about the profit sharing now and everything is digital and I’m cutting my own deal with iTunes. It’s about learning the behind the scenes to become a better business woman.”
    I hear that!!! Ashanti’s fifth album is due this summer on Written Entertainment/eOne. The first single, “The Woman You Love” featuring Busta Rhymes, is available right now on iTunes and Amazon digital.

Solange Knowles Gearing Up For New Album:

Solange Knowles Gearing Up For New Album: “There’s A Lot of Songs About Sex.”

01/17/2012  |  No Comments

01/17/2012 Solange Knowles is finally gearing up for the release of her new album. I am so excited because her 2008 release "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams" was pretty dope!! She tells V Magazine for her upcoming project that it's “more of a modern twist on hip-hop and R&B flecked with tinges of blues and jazz ” but content wise, she says “there’s a lot of songs about sex.” Check out a few more details about her album below:

    “It’s the kind of record you put on when your man is coming over, when you’re with your girls,” Solange tells V Magazine for their V75 music issue. “There are songs that make you wanna dance because we were kind of partying our way through the record, but it’s very chill.”
Solange, who funded and managed the project herself, worked with some top producers including Pharrell Williams, Vincent Vendetta of the Midnight Juggernauts, Ariel Reichstadt and Houston native Devonté “Dev” Hynes.
    “My references for the record were all Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, not just their typical Janet [Jackson] and Prince stuff, but SOS Band and their b-sides with Chaka Khan,” Solange says about the inspiration for the new project. “At first the songs were really dark because I had a premonition before the record that I was going to die. I was having panic attacks and wiling out.”
