Her singe "Fancy" has spent six weeks at no. 1 on the Billboard 100 and her duet "Problem" with Ariana Grande is at no. 2. Ok Iggy do your thing mama. Yesterday the net was buzzing after radio legend Angie Martinez shared the news of her resignation from Hot 97 radio station after 15 years on the air. I was completely shocked. Angie Martinez is a female radio personality that I admire. So when I heard she was leaving I thought it was going to be for a different calling...lol..ummm nope!! It looks like Angie Martinez — “The Voice of New York,” as even President Obama calls her — isn’t going too far after all.

On Thursday morning (June 19), Clear Channel announced that Martinez would be joining the team at rival radio station Power 105. 1, in addition to airing on 103.5 The Beat in Miami. She’s set to host a new afternoon show, running fro 2 – 6 p.m in New York. Power 105 and Hot 97 have been fierce competitors in recent years, so the move is definitely unexpected.

Martinez announced her resignation on-air Wednesday, and that was followed by an Instagram post saying goodbye. The outpouring of reactions was immediate, with colleagues and artists like Q-Tip paying their respects.
“This was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make but ultimately it is time to move on, to grow and to be challenged in new ways,” she said in her farewell post. “Saying goodbye is always emotional and bitter sweet but I am extremely excited about the future.”

Illmatic was/is the blueprint for many rappers coming up in the game after Nasty Nas. The album was a classic and I am eager to see the documentary "Time Is Illmatic".

It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since Nas dropped Illmatic, on April 19 1994, so the Queens rapper is celebrating the milestone with a little refresher course on his debut album.

Three days ahead of the LP's anniversary date, on April 16, Nas will kick off the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival with the premiere of his new documentary "Time is Illmatic." The film, produced by One9, Anthony Saleh and Erik Parke, retraces his influences and journey to create the album, and explores its lasting effect on hip-hop culture, which has already spanned two decades.

Nas will follow the premiere with a live performance of the entire album, making it a pretty special event.

In addition to debuting his documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival, the Queensbridge rapper will also drop Illmatic XX in April, featuring both original and remixed versions of the songs that appeared on his original album.

Still, that's not all. Nas will be rolling out a new, half-hour autobiographical drama series called called "Street Dreams" on Xbox. The series will be set in the 90s in Queens, New York and follow the early stages of his career. A premiere date hasn't been announced as yet.
