NEW YORK — Prosecutors in New York say a cast member on VH1's "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" has been arrested and charged with failing to pay more than $1 million in child support.

The cast member, Steven Jordan, known as "Stevie J," is also a Grammy-winning record producer.

He was arrested Monday night and awaiting an Atlanta court appearance Tuesday. The name of his lawyer was not immediately known.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara (buh-RAH'-ruh) in Manhattan says Jordan failed to pay the support for two children while earning $27,000 monthly.

Prosecutors say Jordan failed to make a voluntary payment in the first nine months of 2013. At the time, he earned $193,000 on the show and another $100,000 from music royalties.

According to report, the series, from 51 Minds, showcases “femcees” Bia, Brianna Perry, Diamond, Nyemiah Supreme and Siya as they attempt to make their mark on a music genre traditionally dominated by men and are discovered and mentored by hip hop artists. The show’s eight-episode run, which begins Aug. 12, will also include appearances by Eve, Pharrell, Lil Jon, Travie McCoy, Rick Ross, Tank and Irv Gotti.

The producer, model and TV personality will executive produce and host a new lifestyle show that launches next year.
