 Jay-Z Shines At Carnegie Hall

Jay-Z Shines At Carnegie Hall

02/07/2012  |  No Comments

02/07/2012 Jay-Z continues to make monumental moves as he made history in New York City last night, performing the first of two sold-out shows at Carnegie Hall. I was on twitter losing it as I read the tweets of those who were in attendance. From what I read and the twitpics I saw the show was AMAZING. Stylist June Ambrose had my guy looking SUPER GQ as he sported a white tux for his opening act. With a live orchestra and special guest appearances by Nas and Alicia Keys it’s safe to save Hov rocked Carnegie Hall. Throughout the evening tribute segments to Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Gil-Scott Heron, and the NY Giants were played and displayed on the main stage’s backdrop. The night was also a first as Jay-Z performed his first-born dedication, “Glory” was done live. Ticket sales from the Carnegie Hall shows will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way of New York. Head inside to see a few pics and a little footage from the show. more

01/23/2012 If you went to the movies this past weekend to support the movie "Red Tails" give your self a pat on the back for helping them score big box office numbers. "Red Tails", the George Lucas film that tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, did far better than expected. Lucas spent 20 years pursuing the project, and recently revealed he couldn't get any studio to finance the film because of an all-black cast. He finally decided to put up the money himself, and spent $58 million on the production budget and another $35 in distribution costs. Congrats to them!!! Click here to read more. more

Pharrell Williams x HMI Orchestra: “I Am Other” Theme

01/16/2012 Super Producer Pharrell Williams partners with the University of Miami Frost School of Music and the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, to work on music that he intends to have on his next CD. This video display his true love for music and that he is about more than just "hip-hop". Williams works his musical magic over a “mixed-genre orchestral work—which features soft and ethereal atmospheres contrasted with fortissimo brass themes and driving rhythms—to explore a different side of his musical creativity, and to encourage his hip-hop fan base to expand their musical horizons.” I look forward to hearing something new from him. I love me some Pha-REAL. more

12/07/2011 T.I and Tiny's reality show, "T.I and Tiny: The Family Hustle," debuted to a whopping 4.3 million viewers for both its premiere at 9 p.m. and its 11 p.m. encore. YESSSSS!!! I absolutely loved the show! I loved how T.I came home from prison and got right to business; he put's family first and remains positive. The show focuses on the rapper's career and family life, the show is an unabashed look at the couple as they raise their six children after T.I. is released from prison. According to Hollywood Reporter, "Family Hustle" powered VH1 as the top-ranked cable network (excluding sports) among the adults 18-49 and women 18-49 demo. To compare, VH1's "Basketball Wives" closed out its third season in August with 2.6 million viewers after starting off its first season averaging more than 1 million viewers." That's major!
