Martinnnnnnnnn Lawrence!!!

    If you know me in real life, then you know that Martin Lawrence is one of my all time favorite comedians to date!!

    Last night I was able to experience the king of comedy live and in person! He kicked off The “Doin Time” Tour in Hammond, IN at the Horseshoe Casino on August 29th, and on Oct 1st, 2015, Marty Mar was in the ATL at the Fabulous Fox Theater.

    If you have never attended a show at the Fox Theater I’ll now offer some tips;

    Parking is wild downtown like always. However we found a lot where we paid $20 and just a few steps from the theater. I believe the lot was located on 3rd st.

    The seats at fox give you a movie theater feel. I was nervous that we wouldn’t be able to see Martin, however the seats I selected were perfect. We sat in the orchestra section, to the left in row NN which were PERFECT. I will suggest getting seats on the end of the row like #1 which will put you near the aisle . Lastly don’t be alarmed the seats are numbered in odd numbers. So if you purchase seats 1&3 the seats are together.

Now the show:

    The show was scheduled to start at 8pm. It started on time well maybe like 8:15 pm which was cool because it was raining here in ATL so I’m sure they were waiting until the house was partially full before kicking things off. Martin Lawrence doesn’t come out immediately. Female Comedian Melanie Comarcho came out to warm the crowd up, which was nice. She was pretty funny too. Her set ran for 30 minutes. Around 9pm the lights went low and on the jumbotron then took us down memory lane with snippets from his stand up shows, hit movies and his classic TV show Martin. Martin then came out turning up to Drake’s 10 Bands track and we all were super HYPE!! He hit his classic dance movies then told the DJ to cut the music to start his performance. He kept it simple for this show wearing a white button up, black jeans and an expensive kick. In his past stand up shows Martin would rock a custom leather fit but he even said it was too damn hot to be on stage with leather…lol!! His show focused on everything from sex, relationships, President Obama, Hollywood and more. I liked the fact that he mixed his old material in with his new material. The whole crowd chimed in on parts we knew from his past stand ups.

    Before attending the show I went on Instagram and lurked on his page to read the reviews of others. I was completely nervous after seeing people say the show was too short etc. I paid $49.00 plus the $17.00 fee FOX charges and I am glad to say I got my money’s worth!! I laughed throughout the entire show and was just in awe to actually get to experience my favorite comedian perform live. Yes he’s older (50 to be exact) but Martin Lawrence can roll with the best of them. Old or new!! With that being said, I recommend checking this show out if the tour is coming to a city near you. Great date night or something cool to attend with your girls!
